Oy Kationi Ab, a division of Raisio Chemicals Oy, makes modified starch at Lapua from patato, barley and wheat. The starch is supplied to paper mills in Finland, other Nordic countries and Russia.

The starch is packed in big bags, (FIBC), mainly using the big bag station supplied by Dosetec. This station handles 70 -140 tons of the product per day, which is equivlent to about 70 percent of the total bagged quantity.

The dosing process is started by choosing the bag size, which can be 200/250, 500, 900, 1000 or 1100/12000 kg. The pallet stcker automatically transfers the pallet to the scale and the cardboard base is placed on the pallet. The Start command tares the scale and starts up the screw conveyors, and the dosing is done throuhg the filling spout into te big bag. The lifting of the bag is buy hydraulic cylinder, and the vibration during the bagging process ensures a well-filled, straight bag. The rolller conveyor moves the big bag to the adjacent conveyor, the mouth of the big bag is closed, and the big bag is transferred to the warehouse. A flap valve in the filling spout prevents the material from falling while the big bag is changed. Any dust produced is removed efficiently through the dust removal pipe into the silo. If a product batch runs out, also in incomplete sack can be filled up at the bag station and so no waste is allowed to occur. The contol cabin is situated next to the filling station. The dosing is fully automated; but it can also be controlled manually, in the event of problem situtations for example. The extremely accurate dosing, minimal material waste, large capacity and low manpower need of Dosetec big bag station make it a cost-effective unit for packing various different kinds of raw materials.
